Our Story

We the students of BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING, in order to;

  • Maximize opportunities around us.
  • Create a great positive impact on world health.
  • Be the best biomedical engineers in the region and the world.

Have decided to form an association called MAKERERE UNINERSITY BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING STUDENTS ASSOCIATION (MUBESA)

a) To unite all members and former members (alumni) of MUBESA, hence maximizing
the benefits of a combined effort towards the enhancement of health care through
biomedical engineering.
b) To create awareness about biomedical engineering and its roles in the health sector to
the general public through promoting research on diseases such as Cancer, Hepatitis,
AIDS, Asthma among others.
c) To promote and develop the practice of biomedical engineering in Uganda, East
Africa, Africa and the world.
d) To determine and represent the views of the majority of the biomedical engineering
students on matters of policy ethics and welfare.

A premier student body, where students discover themselves, build relationships and
make a difference in the world through biomedical engineering.

To  impact greatly, positively on world health by  promoting  the application of
engineering knowledge and skills to the health sector  through promoting  research
and innovation among members, and ensuring that members attain the best training

Jude Odele, a former executive member of the Makerere University Biomedical Engineering Students Association (MUBESA), “developed the first website for MUBESA, which has run up to date”.
